HOW TO CHANGE AN ELEMENT
To change a Filtroil element only a few basic tools are needed. Filtroil North America supplies each purchaser with a clearly written and easy-to-follow installation and maintenance guide.
| STEP 1 |
Turn shut-off valve to the full-off position. Pressure gauge should read zero. |
| STEP 2 |
Unfasten and remove T-bolt slowly, allowing the fluid in the canister to return to
tank. Drain the canister by opening the test drain valve and catching the waste
fluid in a cup or bucket. |
| STEP 3 |
Remove the lid and U-ring gasket. Use the hooks to lift the element out slowly,
wiggling it if there is resistance. |
| STEP 4 |
Check the U-ring gasket, O-ring and packing washer and replace if needed.
Clean the hole at the bottom of the T-bar if needed. Using a clean rag, wipe out
the inside of the canister. |
| STEP 5 |
Insert new element into the canister making sure the plastic skirt is in place.
Push the element lightly to seat it in the canister. Never pour fluid into the
canister on top of the new element. |
| STEP 6 |
Lube both sides of U-ring gasket with fluid being filtered. Install the U-ring gasket
on the top rim of the canister.
|
| STEP 7 |
Install the lid and T-bar. Hand-tighten the T-bar firmly, making sure the lid does
not turn. |
| STEP 8 |
Slowly turn the shut-off valve to the full-on position. Check all connections to be
sure there are no leaks.
|
| STEP 9 |
The gauge will slowly rise and then settle to around 40 PSI(3bar) as the
element fills with fluid and the temperature in the canister matches the system
temperature (typically 105 to 135 degrees F). |
| STEP 10 |
Apply the orange element change sticker to the canister after filling in the date.
