Moog Inc. (New York) - As you know, Moog has recommended your filters since mid -1989... In scores of shops, the Filtroil unit has proven its worth.

Nypro-Nymedex (Massachusetts) - My results have been good. For the first time none of the filters in the servo valves needed cleaning when checked... There have been no servo valve failures due to oil contamination.

Texas Die Casting (Texas) - Metropolitan Tulsa Transit Authority (Oklahoma) By testing the Filtroil unit against two other industry filtration units, we are convinced this system is the best available.

Metropolitan Tulsa Transit Authority (Oklahoma) - I would recommend Filtroil's use, and I am very confident that you will experience the same success that Tulsa Transit has had over the past 10 years.

CIMCO proves the value of Filtroil hydraulic oil filtration

"We used to pay to have our machine hydraulic oil removed from the plant, then we would pay for new oil. We worked on servo valves on some of our machines every week. Now we use the same oil year in and year out and we almost never have servo valve problems," states Bill Messemer, Maintenance Supervisor for CIMCO. Bill has installed more than 100 Filtroil oil filtration systems on the machines in his plant.

"The average price for a new servo valve for our machines is approximately $2,200. Hydraulic oil currently runs about $3.25 per gallon. It used to cost us, on average, $800-$1,000 per machine annually to replace the oil, plus the cost of removing the old oil. When you consider these savings, the fact that we have reduced our machine downtime for maintenance by at least 30% and have dramatically extended the life of our equipment, you don't have to be a genius to know that the payback for this equipment is only a few months. Filtroil has made a tremendous improvement in our machine maintenance program."

Obviously, Bill is sold on Filtroil. Based on extensive oil testing and results from the first units that he installed, his company made the commitment to implement a few units each month until every machine in their plant had the equipment in place. As mentioned above, the results were impressive, proving once again that the best machine maintenance is preventative maintenance.

Filtroil offers considerable savings to customers who purchase five or more units over a specific period of time and they offer a "90 day buy-back" guarantee to first time users.

Dear Howell:

Thank you for soliciting my comments on our experiences with the Filtroil units. As you know, Moog has recommended your filters since mid-1989. By the nature of our valves, we have always had to educate our customers on the necessity to adopt good manufacturing and maintenance practices in order to insure successful machine startups and long valve life. In scores of shops, the Filtroil unit has proven its worth.

Our first experience was at Harrison Radiator, Lockport, NY. We were seeing chronic valve failures in a shop where conventional filtration practices were being followed. They were using filter carts, and had high-pressure filters on the largest pumps, although these were equipped with by-pass valves, and they did change elements on a schedule. It could never be proved that the filter change schedule was truly followed, however; and the oil was visually opaque. We added the Filtroil at our cost to make a point. Within two weeks the test machine's oil was optically clear and tested to ISO 15/12. The result was that valve failures ceased entirely. Filtroils have been installed on most if not all of their hydraulic machines, not just the injection machines equipped with a Moog valve.

Our next outing was at Bacardi Rum, in Puerto Rico. We are retrofitting a Mopac control system to an older machine, and we were concerned that any failures of the valve would jeopardize our potential for additional control systems there. And the fact that service calls to the Caribbean would be quite expensive was another consideration. The application was very successful for the control system. But, significantly, Bacardi found that the level of general hydraulic maintenance improved on that machine. Within months, Bacardi had installed Filtroils on all machines. Only much later did they follow with additional Mopac system orders on several machines.

My point here is that time after time the Filtroil unit has demonstrated to us its ability to clean up the most challenging oil systems to a level quite acceptable to our valve's requirements. In practice in a typical injection or blow molding shop, we believe that a properly applied Filtroil unit will easily maintain oil cleanliness to an extent that it will ensure a long service life for the Moog valve and other more sensitive components. But more importantly, it will save enough time and money in the course of normal machine maintenance to more than justify its addition to any machine.

Sincerely,

Gregory A. Gleason

Case Study

Description: Class 100,000 Cleanroom

Results: Purchased Filtroil for all 21 Machines in Cleanroom

Letter from Wayne Pierce-Lead Mechanic

I initially wanted to install the Filtroil units on our injection molding machines for the convenience of hands-off filtration. I did not see a need because we have a very extensive P.M. program which includes the filtering of oil with a filter cart at 24 hour intervals. As we have 21 machines each machine would get 24 hours of filtration every 21 days. This yielded an ISO number of 15/12 which is very good.

I agreed to take one unit and install it on a trial basis. After running the Filtroil unit I had the oil analyzed and the ISO number went down to 14/11. When I did a comparison test against the filter cart, the ISO numbers went down even further to 13/11. The filter cart results never got better than 15/12.

Shortly after the test, the filter cart went down with a defective valve. It took 75 days to get it repaired. I decided to test the oil again at this point. The machine with the Filtroil unit still registered 13/11, my other machines registered 17/15, unfit for use, and I am in a clean room environment.

At this point, I ordered 20 Filtroil units and installed them on all the machines. My results have been good. For the first time none of the filters in the servo valves needed cleaning when checked, and my PM mechanic has more time to spend on other maintenance. There have been no servo valve failures due to oil contamination.

Thanks,

Texas Die Casting - (Texas)

CLEANER OIL MAKES A BIG DIFFERENCEAT TEXAS DIE CASTING

Want to know a seldom recognized method of improving the performance and reliability of virtually any die casting machine on the market? Cleaner oil! We found a great need to improve the integrity of the system fluid when we began utilizing servo controls on our die casting shot systems. The delicate nature and close tolerance of the servo valves proved non-tolerant to the contamination levels common in water glycol hydraulic fluid. We additionally found that by cleaning the fluid in a die casting machine with a standard shot system the machine up-time, quality output, valve performance and machine reliability were all enhanced.

Texas Die Casting has now learned that hydraulic fluid can be cleaned while operating the machine with "Filtroil Hydraulic Oil Filtration." Beginning in July 1990, we added a Filtroil unit to each of our machines and the results have been significant. By testing oil from the reservoir before and after Filtroil, we now have our oil literally 20 times cleaner than new oil from the drum, and it stays that way. Without any auxiliary pumps or motors, the bypass filter is easy to install and easy to maintain. We change our filters about twice per year now, test the fluid quarterly, and find that the machines perform much better as a result.

By testing the Filtroil unit against two other industry filtration units, we are convinced this system is the best available. Every machine contains a Filtroil unit and we now have no servo or pump problems related to fluid. In fact, we have not lost a pump on a machine with the Filtroil since July of 1990. This makes a big difference to our bottom line.
